Letters to Rabbi Hayyim Heller, 1936-1969. Most of the letters are from Rabbi Yosef Dov Soloveitchik, written in Boston between 1940 and 1960. All the letters except one are in Hebrew. One letter, by R. Soloveitchik's wife, Tonya, from 1960, is written in Yiddish, and is an invitation to their daughter Tova's wedding to R. Aharon Lichtenstein. There is a written invitation from Rabbi Soloveitchik also, written in Hebrew. Two letters were written in Warsaw in 1936 and have the letterhead of the Yeshivat Torat Ḥayim ʻal. shem Maran Ḥayim Soloṿetsiḳ and mention Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky. Two letters have the letterhead of Hekhal Rabenu Ḥayim ha-Leṿi ṿi-Yeshivat Torah Yiśraʼel in Roxbury, Mass., where R. Soloveitchik taught. The letters reveal the public and personal lifestyles of Rabbis Soloveitchik and Heller and their friendship. Some letters are handwritten, some typescript. A description appeared in Judaica Jerusalem, July 8, 1998, as Lot no. 95.
